Meet Sommelier Michael Perman

A rare blend of culinary training, executive innovation, and deep wine expertise comes together to create thoughtful, engaging tasting experiences—designed for connection, curiosity, and great wine.

Back in the day, Michael Perman went to Hotel Restaurant University, trained as a chef, led innovation in the food business, and then discovered the joys of wine while living near Napa, California as an innovation executive in the fashion business. His executive roles include leading global brand strategy, consumer insights, trend forecasting, and board-level workshop facilitation.

Michael initially launched C’EST WHAT? in 2016 as an innovation advisory for notable brands including Adidas, Hyatt, OMSI, Stoller Winery, Tillamook Dairy, Gensler Design, Hershey’s, and REI.

When COVID hit the world, Michael re-discovered his culinary roots and became a certified Sommelier based in Portland, where he deploys his vast innovation expertise to create unique wine experiences for corporate events and private residences.

Michael Perman is a member of the Court of Master Sommeliers and the Wine & Spirits Education Trust. Michael has curated more than 100 wine tasting experiences for corporate events, private homes, and retail experiences.
